Dr. Shoshan Haran, 67, was born in Be’eri to parents who were among the founders of the Kibbutz. She is known for her generosity, for her talent for cooking, and her dedication as a mother and grandmother.
Aside from her devotion to her family Shoshan has made a significant impact in Africa. She is the founder and president of Fair Planet, a non-profit organization that aims to provide food security and economic opportunities to people in developing countries. Fair Planet provides high-quality vegetable seeds that are suitable for local conditions, making them accessible and affordable to local farmers, resulting in improved crop yields. Her work is highly regarded worldwide.
Tragically, an entire family of eight that were together in that safe room on the fateful morning of October 7th have all disappeared, and their home burnt down. Shoshan’s son, Yuval, last spoke with his mother that morning. She sounded stressed but assured him they were all safe in the safe room. The call was disconnected at 10:30 a.m
