Peace Activist, Founder of Women Wage Peace and Arab-Jewish Center for Empowerment, Equality, and Cooperation.

With a heavy heart, I share the news that our dear friend Vivian Silver has been missing since the terrorist attack on Kibbutz Be’eri on October 7th. Vivian, 74, was born in Canada but has called Kibbutz Be’eri her home for nearly 30 years. She lived there with her two sons, Chen and Jonathan, and grandchildren.

Vivian dedicated her life to building bridges between Jews and Arabs through her peace activism. She worked at the Negev Peace Institute and, in 2000 founded the AJEEC center (Arab-Jewish Center for Empowerment, Equality, and Cooperation). The AJEEC center, as a Jewish-Arab organization promoted mutual understanding.

In recent years Vivian also founded the Peace Organization Women Wage Peace. Her son Chen told the New York Times that his mother believed in trying to find humanity on both sides of the conflict.

Vivian brought people together – Jews, Arabs, Palestinians, Bedouins – through her warm spirit and compassionate work. We hope she returns safely and to continue spreading her message of unity and peace. Her absence leaves a hole in the lives of many and in the peace movement as a whole.

Mr. Roni Fuchs, Vivan’s friend, shared her story.

Vivian Silver was kidnapped on Oct. 7, 2023, and held captive by Hamas.
Please join in sharing Vivian’s story to speed her safe return.
